DELE Exam
Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language
At Fundació BCNLIP, we believe that certifying Spanish language skills can make a big difference in social and professional integration processes. That’s why we provide information about official courses and support people interested in preparing for the DELE, which is offered at the BCNLIP school.
The Diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE), granted by the Instituto Cervantes, are internationally recognized and can be key for applying for social integration (arraigo), Spanish nationality, or access to education and employment.
Through our educational network, we offer guidance and resources to help make the DELE more accessible to anyone who needs it.
What is the DELE?
The DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera) is an official diploma that certifies the level of competence and mastery of the Spanish language. It is awarded by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training of Spain. The most notable aspect of the DELE is that it is recognized internationally.
Key Features of the DELE
· Levels of Proficiency: The exam is structured into six levels, following the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), from level A1 for beginners to level C2 for the most advanced learners.
· Comprehensive Assessment: It evaluates all areas of language proficiency: reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written expression, and oral expression.
· Flexibility: You can choose the level you wish to take, according to your language skills.
· Authorized Centers: The exam is administered at an accredited examination center, such as Bcnlip, on dates set by the Instituto Cervantes.
Situations in Which You Might Need the DELE in Spain
· Academic studies: If you plan to study at a Spanish university and your native language is not Spanish, you will likely be required to present a DELE diploma to prove your language proficiency.
· Professional work: Some companies, especially those operating in an international context, may require a DELE certificate as proof of your ability to communicate effectively in Spanish.
· Nationality procedures: For certain legal procedures, such as applying for Spanish citizenship, a DELE A2 diploma is required to certify a minimum level of language competence.
· Personal and professional development: Obtaining the DELE can be a great boost to your CV, demonstrating your commitment and ability to learn and master a second language.
