We invite you to explore an exciting way to master Spanish and/or Catalan while contributing as a volunteer to a worthy cause. Join us on this adventure where you will not only learn new languages but also engage in educational, cultural, and social experiences.
This program, using service-learning methodology, is designed to enhance both your linguistic abilities and your development of essential competencies for personal and professional growth.
We will work on the following skills and competencies:
Learn Spanish and/or Catalan
In our classes, you will learn the language in a structured way and put your learning into practice outside the classroom. We focus on teaching vocabulary specific to your area of interest and provide practical tools for applying what you learn during your volunteering. Our courses cover all levels and are aligned with the European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Cultural: Discover Barcelona from a social and cultural perspective
You will explore a more human and complex Barcelona, beyond the stereotypes and tourist images, and analyze its sociocultural reality within a global framework. This perspective will also give you general knowledge about society, culture, and your own environment.
Professional: Enhance your curriculum
You will put your knowledge into practice and learn new skills. While taking your Spanish course, you can volunteer and choose from a wide range of tasks to develop, such as: teaching, administration, research, project creation, event organization, communications, among others.
Social: Improve the environment
By the end of the course, you will have contributed significantly to building a more equitable, just, and sustainable world. Instead of engaging in futile complaints or adopting passive attitudes towards injustices, you will have chosen the path of action, which will give you a broad and deep perspective on the impact of this type of social commitment.
Personal: Grow as a person
This experience will be unforgettable. You will connect with incredible people and discover that helping and collaborating in various social and professional spheres is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have. Remember, every small action counts in building a better world.
Evaluation and Certification
At the end of the program, the submitted project will be evaluated, which must reflect all the work completed during your volunteer experience. Additionally, your progress in the language course will be considered through continuous assessments and attendance.
Once you have passed the evaluation process, you will receive a double certificate that will acknowledge your participation and completion of the entire program:
– Language course certificate (Spanish and/or Catalan)
– Curricular volunteer internship certificate
These certificates can be very useful for your future academic and professional endeavors.

PROGRAM
It is a 1-year program focused on 4 key aspects.
10 hours a week
Throughout the course
Each week you will advance in language learning. You will take general courses starting from B1.1, working on the four skills (listening and reading comprehension, speaking, and writing). Each level lasts approximately 3 to 6 months.

The first 3 months
You will receive specific training to be able to carry out your volunteering practices, focusing on the necessary vocabulary, project development, and preparation for the tasks to be performed.
10 hours a week
From the fourth month
You will be able to do volunteering practices on topics of your interest based on the needs and requirements of the Foundation. During your practices, your work, project development, and attendance will be monitored.
During your volunteering, you will need to complete a project where you can work and showcase your progress in the 5 competencies: linguistic, cultural, professional, social, and personal.
Your work may also help other students, and in some cases, you will have the opportunity to present it.
